Our founder
Christian Babikian has worked in the music industry for over a decade. He started his career managing metadata at Sony Music Publishing before moving to the Creative side of the office, and went on to hold A&R roles at both major and boutique companies.
It was at this point he realized the not-so-secret issue that was plaguing the music industry: a desperate lack of organized and transparent ownership metadata. Not only did this make his job difficult, but also made it difficult for the writers he represented to receive their royalties. This was unacceptable and inspired Christian to pivot to the music tech space, working in music metadata management for several years, helping provide a solution.
From his early days at Sony, Christian believed there was a way to mix his Business & Finance degree with his passion for music, and even thought about the potential of songs as an asset class. Seeing catalog acquisition grow exponentially over the past few years and the new opportunities it offered to creators, motivated him to enter this sector of the industry and help artists and writers secure these opportunities.
Outside the office, you can catch Christian performing in his band on bass, rocking out at a concert, or digging through the crates at a local record shop.
